Mark's question about the institution's holdings prompted me to look
for another source of information on the net. Market Guide has the
same type of information on institution holdings including the
amount sold, bought and net for each stock for the previous 3 month
period. The data is shown in the table below.

It shows, very surprisingly to me, that the institutions have been
very heavily net buyers during the 3 month period. Many of the
stocks having net sales or buying are also of a surprise to me. The
data is sorted by alphabetical symbol listing.

Specifically, institutions sold 24,956,000 shares, bought 44,620,000
shares for a net buying activity of 19,664,000 shares. The numbers
are shown at the bottom of the table. I should clarify what I just
said. The institutions actually bought and sold many more shares to
come to the "composite" numbers just stated. As an example, if
institutions bought 4M shares and sold 3M shares of a stock during
the 3 month period, the net would be a plus 1M shares that show up
in the 44,620,000 given above. Details for each stock are given in
Market Guide.

ASMLF was not covered by Market Guide so I kept the data from the old
database and kept the net change zero for this table. In terms of
the number of institutions holding shares, Market Guide was fairly
close to the data presented earlier, but there was sometimes
substantial changes in the percent held by institutions compared to
the previously presented data.
