Intel is Sanders' obsession. In the interview, he alternately referred to the company as ''corrupt'' and ''unethical'' and charged that it lies about its achievements, strong-arms customers and produces a ''piece of s-- Celeron chip'' designed to compete with AMD's K6.
Wow, this guy is obviously not going to win Time's Man of the Year in his lifetime.
That little quote about the "piece of s--- Celeron chip," if taken word-for-word, shows how Sanders' obsession with Intel is undoubtedly cutting into his professionalism. Also, what's with the name on the pinstripes and the bust of Sanders in the AMD lobby? Next thing, I'll bet Jerry Sanders makes a larger-than-life-size statue of himself holding a pose similar to Kim Il-Sung of North Korea. (And we all know how North Korea's doing these days.)
It's an attitude like this that paints an even more negative impression of AMD for me. It's too bad, since AMD does have talented engineers, good designs, and a competitive presence that makes Intel open its eyes to the new challenges.
By the way, that "piece of s--- Celeron" is going to spell short-term doom for the AMD K6 and K6-2, thanks to Mendocino. And the worst thing about this is AMD needs to show some short-term profitability if it wants to satisfy its creditors.
