Amsterdam,

I'm sure you'll enjoy this article on the French/American culture gap:
monde-diplomatique.fr

This afternoon (actually from 3:00PM Paris Time on) the electronic edition of the French daily Liberation will be accessible online: inside there's a thought provoking (I love that expression!) article on J.P. Chevenement's surgery accident: the journalist claims that the French Minister of the Interior has not been through an obligatory pre-surgery allergetic test!! One of the three chemicals used in any anaesthesy is curare --to relax the muscles. The curare mixture used for Chevenement was said to be very allergetic... Further, the military hospital --alledgedly the safest French hospital!-- is under the direct command of the Defense Ministry, its management being both medical and military. I think Chevenement was victim of a sort of Casey scheme. Remember William Casey, late CIA director under the Reagan administration? He was hospitalized for a benign surgical operation and guess what? He went out of the hospital in a bodybag!

I've also heard on CNN that the US has planned to close its embassies in Ghana and Togo, Western Africa, because of terrorist threats... Which geopolitical power has the highest interest in such a diplomatic withdrawal of the US in Central Africa? The Palestinians? the Talebans? C'mon! This whole thing's becoming crystal clear.

Regards,

Gustave.
