When the flow into US$ reverses, and I think it has, then the unwinding of the positions that inflated its value will pull it down hard.

I think we're starting to see this unwinding now in the yen/dollar rate.

But I'm estactic to see that Greenspan has stopped puffing up his chest on inflation and is openly entertaining a downward bias.

As for bonds, they sure have been good to us since July in the IRA.... :0) As for hyper-inflation in the US?? I just don't see it given the long-term turmoil overseas.

What is clear is that the US economy has room to expand, and in fact, must expand in order to provide a sufficient market for overseas exporters to the US.

The strength of the dollar to foreign currencies is going to hit us hard, and lowering rates will mainly help to hold the line. However, small caps, with their domestic market and the way rates impact their business models, may turn out to the winners in a rate cut environment. That is, if they can get past the liquidity issue.

Regards,

Ron
