A .458 for burglars?! Yow, Bill. That's a bit much for me. I can deal with the recoil - if I'm scared enough. But the total dealbreaker for me is the muzzleblast. Indoors. Those 1900 plate things will be about 60 grit after one full load. For indoor use, I favor the 45 ACP. It's the quietest reasonable fighting cartridge on the shelf right now. Sure, the 38 Spl is less loud yet, but those round-nose bumblebees have been known to bounce off heavy overcoats.
