Avid Cinema is based on Avid's higher-end editing and effects technology, which has been used in the creation of many of Hollywood's biggest movies and television shows including ''Titanic'' and ''Seinfeld.'' Using storyboard templates designed by professional screenwriters, consumers can design their own movies for home, school and business projects. Avid Cinema supports a variety of video capture cards so users can easily capture full-motion video, still images, audio or graphics from a VCR, camcorder, TV or the Web. Using drag and drop techniques, consumers can manipulate their digital video and audio clips, apply more than 60 special effects, and add voice-overs, soundtracks, animated titles and credits. With the click of a button, the finished movie can be published to videotape, CD-ROM or as a QuickTime or AVI file for use in multimedia presentations, Web sites or the Internet. Avid Cinema also enables users to export movies as RealVideo files for streaming across web sites.
Intel's Patrick Gelsinger, vice president of Intel Corporation [Nasdaq:INTC - news], said, ''We believe that video editing on a computer is a natural -- and fun - progression for the consumer. By combining the power of the Pentium II(R) processor with video editing software such as Avid's, it's possible for most anyone to easily create their own movies.''
RealVideo File Format for Web Streaming
Avid Cinema for Windows utilizes technology from RealNetworks(R), the recognized leader in video and audio streaming, to enable users to stream their finished movies across the Internet.
