I don't know how many phones they will sell, but I can report this from the conference call:

QCOM has sold and has a backlog of around 200,000 ASIC CDMA chipsets for shipments this year. The question was asked as to how many phone users the chip sets support. The answer corrected the term "sets" since their technology now is on 1 chip, and the answer was about 40 subscribers per channel (The chips each support 1 channel).

Also, QCOM's QPE (Qualcomm Personal Electronics, JV w/ sony) can produce 1,000,000 phones per year, but they mentioned they could add 2 - 3 new lines to this facility when necessary.

What I infer from this is that they will ship chips to support inferstructure for around 800,000 users this year. While they will supply some of those 800,000 phones, there will be other manufacturers as well.

Good Luck!
