Taiwan foundry stocks have been down this summer due to low utilizations. USC fab is supposed to be sub 0.25um capable with deep UV steppers. By next spring, there should be a shortage of sub 0.25um foundry capacity developing and Taiwan USC shares should bounce back in time to go public. ALSC just need to hang onto its cash (not an easy thing to do if they have pay or take wafer contracts) and sit around till then. By then, if they still have no viable product strategies, might as well spin off foundry shares to ALSC shareholders i.e. liquidate.

Have to admit, since Jan they should know that their strategy of going into DRAMs and graphics has failed (I don't blame them for it though). They should have been able to come up with other strategies. That what the senior management is supposed to be paid to do. But so far 8 months with dead silence.
