Net Nanny Expands Marketing Initiatives in the UK and Europe
Bellevue, Washington, September 03, 1998 - Net Nanny Software International Inc. (NNS.V, NNSWF), in conjunction with NetPartner Ltd. ( <www.netpartner.co.uk> www.netpartner.co.uk), reports substantial interest in the United Kingdom of Net Nanny's unique, award winning filtering solution that protects children and digital data online and offline. Robin Bingeman, NetPartner's UK Projects Manager, reports that interest from Internet Service Providers, value added resellers, sub-distributors, and the educational establishment is growing at a fast rate.
Recent agreements with Net Nanny include:
Force9 Internet
Force9 Internet will distribute an evaluation copy of Net Nanny on its Internet connectivity software with a direct link upon expiration to NetPartner's Web page for purchase and download of the full version of Net Nanny V3.1. Force9 Internet (www.force9.net), established in early 1997, provides a range of Internet services. Consistent and impressive growth has led to Force9 becoming one of the leading providers in the UK, through aggressive pricing and an award winning level and range of services to both residential and business customers.
Claranet
Claranet Ltd., an Internet Service Provider ("ISP") based in London and established since 1996, is the largest independent ISP in the UK. They are providing their customer base with an evaluation copy of Net Nanny on their Internet access CD and an upgrade path through NetPartner. They have undertaken to extensively advertise their association with Net Nanny through computer trade shows and magazines.
Martin Daly, Claranet's Channel Development Manager, said on the Net Nanny alliance - "There is an ever increasing number of children who have access to the Internet and there is a lot of stuff out there they shouldn't be exposed to. We cannot control what gets published on the Web, but we feel that we can at least help parents protect their children from the excesses. The alliance with Net Nanny seems the best way."
Demon Internet
Founded in 1992, Demon Internet is the UK's most experienced provider of dial up access to the Internet. With over 200,000 subscribers, Demon Internet was recently acquired by Scottish Telecom in a œ66 million transaction (approx. US$110million). This acquisition secures Demon's future as the leading ISP in the UK and provides the company with the additional telecommunications and utilities infrastructure required for further expansion in Europe. Under the terms of the agreement, Demon is providing an evaluation copy of Net Nanny in their new access CDs. The initial agreement calls for 150,000 copies.
Other Developments
In an effort to promote further awareness of the Company's brand name and effectiveness, Net Nanny is sponsoring the first Internet Security course in the UK, at Manchester City College. "Controlling Cybersex" is a new short course aimed at giving parents advice on how to control their children's access to unsuitable material on the Internet. The course runs throughout the summer.
At NetPartner's instigation, on September 9th, Gordon Ross will attend a conference in Glasgow, Scotland entitled "Child Safety on the Internet". This conference has been organized by the Center for Europe's Children, a not-for-profit organization whose partners include UNICEF, the Council of Europe, the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, and Children 1st. The conference is intended to raise issues about pornography and the possible risks of sexual exploitation of children who have access to the Internet. It is aimed at those who care for children or those who develop policy in this area, such as the police, foster parents, social workers, teachers, and others who work within the child protection arena. Mr. Ross will give a one hour presentation on Internet security.
Other inquiries currently being fielded by NetPartner include approaches for sub-distribution agreements across Europe and additional discussions with several other Internet Service Providers. NetPartner intends to be increasingly active in the education sector and has scheduled attendance at trade shows specifically addressing the educational market. The current UK government has already put in place agencies to promote the use of the Internet in schools, as President Clinton has in the United States. These policies offer immense opportunities for the Company, which it is well positioned to pursue.
