Carole, I would suggest a workaround: don't close the browser
windows before disconnecting from your ISP. This has other
advantages, too. You can now read one or more web pages while
disconnected. I do this all the time.

If you insist in dropping the sound try going to START|SETTINGS|CONTROL PANEL
(I assume you have Win95), select SOUNDS by double clicking.
You'll see a window with EVENT. Highlight the event CLOSE PROGRAM
by clicking once. In a box below you'll see what sound is associated
with CLOSE PROGRAM. Change this to NONE.
