Matsushita closing U.S. DRAM fab PUYALLUP, Wash. -- Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd. announced today it will close its wafer fab here in December due to persistent losses DRAMs. The fab produces 16-Mbit DRAMs and microcontrollers for consumer applications, according to a company spokesman. About 340 employees will be laid off when the Matsushita Semiconductor Corp. of America closes down in early December, he said. The subsidiary was established in February 1991. semibiznews.com
