Actually, it's interesting both technically and otherwise. SAGE is a COBOL-like language. It's a "front end" to the COBOL compiler that generates native COBOL for the platform you intend to run the code on. Converting the language to VB would be an interesting exercise.

From a sales perspective, I think it's interesting that there was so much effort put into producing a SAGE to VB converter. The world isn't overflowing with SAGE users, and I doubt that they ALL want to convert ... so I would expect there to be a fairly small number of potential clients.

VB is certainly more "main-stream" than SAGE is at this stage of the game.

I would have enjoyed listening to the conversations that took place when the decision to build a SAGE to VB converter was made. There had to be some motivating force, and some other feature or language converter had to be given up to make SAGE to VB happen. This could have been done because of a specific high profile client (read: big bucks) that wants to de-SAGE themselves.
