Now you're just ticking me off more. (I'm assuming it's unintentional, but I'm ticked none-the-less.) To imply that 3Dfx is a generation behind everyone else is bogus beyond belief. BTW, name Bit Boyz' other 2 generations - go ahead - I dare you.
Also, I am specifically toasted about the chart entitled "MPPS Over Time" where TNT and BitBoys bogusness is taken at face value yet Banshee and V2 SLI are noticably absent.
Oh yes. Look at that chart again. Anyone else ticked that it show Intel's performance as equivalent to Voodoo2's? Or that G200, S3, TNT, and ATi Rage are plotted _significantly_ higher than Voodoo2? This is a total outrage!!!! (I warned you that I was ticked!)
Their list of features for each "generation" is also bogus and arbitrary. Many of the features (video out, AGP, tiling) are just marketing checkboxes.
"Although summer is not generally a stupendous period for most companies in the computer business, a few companies, most notably 3Dfx, have enjoyed high revenues and it's a matter of momentum. It's also scary at the top."
What the heck does _that_ mean? "It's scary at the top." Doesn't sound like an objective statement to me...
Bottom Line: This report omitted the industry leader for reasons unknown. That is a sin in my book. Further more they mislead their readers in significant ways. To say that it is because 3Dfx isn't a long-time player or hasn't released enough versions is laughable in the extreme.
