NetCentric, Ascend form Fax Service Alliance - InternetWeek Newsletter 9/9/98:

NetCentric Corp. next week will announce an alliance with Ascend
Communications that allows ISPs to deploy Internet-based fax services
using Ascend's Remote Access MAX platform rather than deploying a
parallel IP-fax infrastructure in the networks.

By building NetCentric's FaxStorm Internet fax technology into the
Ascend's platform, carriers will be able to deploy IP fax services more quickly and at less cost.

Earlier this year, NetCentric said that it planned to develop an open
gateway strategy. ISPs like PSINet of Herndon, Va., and GTE
Internetworking of Cambridge, Mass., already have deployed NetCentric's solution in their networks. By Kate Gerwig
