Just as a phone call can be traced (and now is done automatically) with the cooperation of Yahoo (most likely ordered by the court) the source of any logon can also be traced to the ISP and its customer. As you know, you cannot post a message on Yahoo or SI without first identifying yourself. A hit against a flagged logon identity starts the process of tracing. The only way this would fail is if the perpetrator of libel discontinues posting to prevent their discovery.

Fundamentally I fail to understand why you appear to be in full support of those who misrepresent their opinions as fact with the objective of doing significant harm to others - frequently to investors who lose equity if enough people believe that the alleged "facts" and accusations of "fraud" are true.

I have never posted anything that argues against the expression of outrageous opinions. An opinion can be anything anybody wants to say just as long as they do not disguise it as fact. I have only disputed slander and libel for nefarious purposes. Have you no sense of morality? The establishment of wrongdoing is evident from what is posted. If somebody does not want to be held legally accountable for what they publish to a huge audience, then they should think about what they print before they submit it! What makes the internet any more immune to the consequences of slanderous statements than the publishers of tabloids who have lost major cases when personalities took them to court? The same principle applies. Except in the case of the internet, the claim must be pressed against the author since the web site has no control over what is said.

It's clear to me that many (perhaps most) who kneel at Wexler's feet as his disciples believe that the means justifies the end - which is a sad testimonial of the quality and integrity of this thread.

Argue that you feel the opinions of management and analysts is wrong and a stock is overpriced and should be shorted. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. But don't start accusing management, analysts, brokers et al. of criminal acts ("fraud") unless you are prepared to support it with facts and/or be held accountable for what may be proven to be libelous statements.
