Sun and Microsoft Face Off at Hearing on '96 Java Pact nytimes.com

I haven't been keeping much on this other front. Quoted for amusement only.

Muglia, the Microsoft executive, said Sun was unfairly trying to control [a] programming language that was essential to the Windows operating system and that was outside the purview of the agreement.

There you go, fraudulent Java is essential to Windows! Or maybe it's unfraudulent Java in this context, since Muglia's talking about the Microsoft "Embrace and Demolish" / "Subvert and Sabotage" version. Microsoft must be free to inoculate! Just another example of the DNA retrovirus at work, I guess.

Cheers, Dan
