Famous Players to open seven new Imax(R) and Imax 3D(R) Theatres across Canada Aggressive roll-out of theatres to be completed by July 1999.

TORONTO, Sept. 8 /CNW-PRN/ via NewsEdge
Corporation -- Famous Players (a subsidiary of
Viacom Inc.) and Imax Corporation
(NASDAQ:IMAXF; TSE:IMX) today announced
the locations of the first of seven new Famous
Players IMAX and IMAX 3D theatres. The
Famous Players IMAX Theatre initiative is part
of Famous Players' $300 million national
expansion and involves building 10 new IMAX
and IMAX 3D screens, including the first 3D
screen in Ontario, over the next four years at
new and existing Famous Players' theatres
across Canada. The agreement provides
Famous Players with certain rights of exclusivity
in Canada.

IMAX motion picture systems are renowned for
their stunning images on screens at least six
storeys tall of unsurpassed size, clarity and
impact. They are enhanced by superb,
specially designed, six-channel, multi-speaker
sound systems. Motion pictures now being
produced in this format will bring a new level of
commercialism to The IMAX Experience(TM).
New, large-format 3D-animated films, featuring
some of the most popular figures in recent
animation history, will bring a heightened level
of entertainment enjoy.
