Telecom tales: Last week it was Sanmina
From Herb @ TheStreet.Com
(SANM:Nasdaq). Yesterday, Reltec (RLT:NYSE). Both reported that profits will disappoint because of delays in orders from customers, and both supply, in one way or another, the telecommunications industry.
Sanmina, which makes circuit boards, is lowest down in the food chain. Its customers include the likes of Reltec, Alcatel (ALA:NYSE ADR), Lucent (LU:NYSE), Motorola (MOT:NYSE) and Tellabs (TLAB:Nasdaq). If Reltec has already disappointed, can the others be far behind? Reltec, meanwhile, supplies the regional Bell operating companies, and competes directly with Northern Telecom (NT:NYSE) and Lucent.
