Here's the interview with VNIN's president -
INTERVIEW WITH ROBERT SHORT, PRESIDENT, VALENCE 9 DEVELOPMENT INC. SEPT. 8, 1998
What ¡s the status of the Company and its next objective?
PageFactory has been in production on a Macintosh platform at Oklahoma State University for approximately 18 months. Performance has been well above expectations. We are currently migrating to an NT version which should be available for marketing early in the first quarter of 1999. A UNIX version will follow shortly thereafter.
What are the key advantages of Page Factory?
The major advantage that PageFactory provides is the near elimination of those onerous administrative burdens associated with managing large volumes of web server content. This, of course, translates directly to the bottom line. It also increases control and security of any web content server while making it easier for users to access and maintain their own content. Internet service providers, corporate Intranets, educational institutions, membership organizations, etc, -- all can realize substantial cost-effective benefits through use of PageFactory. I should note that PageFactory and ancilliary products are all based on established standards. More importantly, PageFactory products overlay all DBMS . No complaint can be made that it is a "proprietary" system. A more detailed insight can be had by visiting <www.valence9.com>
How will you determine whether or not PageFactory functions as advertised?
Our intent is to do some so-called "seeding". By that, I mean we shall offer PageFactory products, without charge, to at least one Internet Service Provider and to one K - 12 school district for final test purposes. The product which we will offer will be a production version, not a beta version.
Are there other projects under development?
We are seriously looking at two or three acquisition opportunities that will complement our focus on the Internet as well as other types of environments. Our intent is to expand our markets both horizontally and vertically. We are especially focused on major network service providers and their urgent needs to deliver a variety of products and services to their users.
Your stock did very well when it came out last week. How many shares are available?
We authorized 100 million shares, 25 million of which accrue to the Founders. It should be noted that Founders' shares have the usual restricted trading authorization. We also have 7.3 million shares in the float, all of which were sold through a 504 offering this past Spring. The bulk of those shares were sold to offshore investors.
Your stock was only listed last week, and you're still in the quiet period so we know that you can't say too much, but do you anticipate keeping small investors aware of what ¡s going on with the Company?
Absolutely. The primary means for early growth is through investors. We are in the process of drafting several media releases. But, as you noted, we can't forward them just yet. In the meantime, I welcome questions from investors and potential investors and promise to respond as well as I can. I should mention that our phone, fax and Email information is posted on our Website.
What type of future financing do you need to continue your Company's growth?
Like all young, developing companies, we need additional capital to continue to expand. We anticipate that, within the next four to six months, we shall again make a private offering to promote launching of Page Factory version 3.0. Prior to that, we plan to make several acquisitions to expand our product lines and bolster revenues. To reiterate, our intention is to instill confidence in our investors by keeping them well informed and aware of our progress. As everyone knows, satisfied investors are the key to survival. |
