Dear Jack,
You make some great points!
I think you may have overlooked some very obvious issues. First, ASND's board and major stock holders are people to, and they realize that the upside potential with LU could far outweigh the risk associated with the long term position of ASND. Secondly, with the latest volatility in the market would certainly lead the ASND board to conclude that LU stock should and will be far less volatile in the current market conditions than ASND.
I agree ASND is a great stock. However, let's suppose you had $20,000 to invest, and you could invest in only ONE stock. You couldn't cash out for a minimum of 2-3 years, and you primarily are buying the stock for a long position. Would you buy ASND or LU? What's your call?
I believe ASND will do quite well over the next 6-8 weeks, but I do believe, if LU does not acquire ASND (which I strongly believe they will), ASND stock will take a hit as investors (particularly fund managers) will shift money into a safer investment, i.e., INTC, IBM, MSFT, etc.
Just my opinion,
