What's Ron's role anyway? Is he an anchor, a reporter, a commentator, a guest, an interviewer, or a newsmaker?
- If he was just an anchor, he'd refrain for stating any personal opinions.
- If he was just a reporter, he'd only state other people's opinions.
- If he was just a commentator, he would read news stories and would preface his statements with "In my opinion..."
- If he was just an interviewer, he would only ask questions to guests.
- If he was just a newsmaker, other people would cite his opinions as being influential on the market.
More than any other CNBC anchor, Ron shifts in an out of these roles without drawing distinctions as to which hat he is wearing. He (like all the other CNBC anchors) needs to stay more in the "neutral" anchor role than he does. Bill has a problem with this also, but Ron's seriousness and habit of stating his opinion as fact makes it much more frustrating to me. Ted David, IMHO, does a very good job of keeping the roles straight.
