FWIW, I agree with Dan's post 100%. I think he's focusing on exactly the right factors. An added benefit of his Celeron setup over a PII < 333 Mhz is the markedly less heat it generates, even with the celeron OC'd. Also, for a trading machine, reliability is key, and for this I don't think NT can't be beat. Since NT does indeed love RAM, and since after its recent plunge and stabilization (actually price increases in recent weeks) RAM is not dropping while CPU prices are dropping like stones, putting the $ into good SD ram and a good flexible BX motherboard seems the way to go for the value oriented do-it-yourselfer. Thanks for your thoughts, Dan. My own system is following this same idea--I'll post it shortly.
