Smartflex Flip-chip Line Qualified in Mexico

TUSTIN, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 1998--Smartflex Systems Inc.
(Nasdaq:SFLX - news) Wednesday announced customer qualification of its volume Flip-Chip-on-Flex (Flip-chip) line located within its precision manufacturing facility in Monterrey, Mexico.

The new Flip-chip line, which incorporates both fully- and semi-automated Flip-chip die bonding capability, has a capacity of 40,000 units per week and can be expanded to meet customer requirements. Flip-chip offers a smaller interconnect footprint and improved electrical performance when compared with surface mount or wire-bonded Chip-on-Flex.
