What's this???

<< By using a color discrimination algorithm and obtaining a skin measurement before the onset of icterus, this instrument can provide valuable clinical information that obviates the need for serum bilirubin determinations. >>

Jany, is a measurement before the onset of jaundice required in order for the CCSI Colormate to properly measure bilirubin levels?
Based on the wording in this study, it appears so. Obviously then, the requirement is that a measurement must be taken while the infant is healthy and the instrument (more importantly, the data from the baseline measurement within it) must be accessible for continued measurements. I have not seen anywhere here a discussion with regards to transferring data from one instrument to another. If this capability does not exist, then it is back to the heel stick in a number of cases.

With this in mind, one question comes to mind! Has CCSI designed a contingency or a method to allow easy access/transfer of baseline data between doctors/hospitals and their respective instruments? If not, this places a burden on the doctor/staff to properly manage the use of this instrument, a requirement which I believe would be a barrier to acceptance!

Also, message to my fellow CCSI naysayers of CCSI with respect to the Nordstrom deal. Don't underestimate the significance of this! IMO, this has the potential to be a far greater revenue producer than the bilirubin market, assuming of course, that Darby can make this happen!
Case in point, the average American woman has two children creating the market for, let's say, five bilirubin measurements on average. On the other hand, over the course of her lifetime, how many times will she step into her local upscale department store for a makeover/major cosmetic purchase? Many times more as I see it! If Darby can properly manage this market, get agreements in place to test market with other upscale stores (Macy's, Robinson's-May, Profitts, etc.), and then get Colormates placed in the majority of stores, then this stock will easily see double-digits again. Of course, Darby has to perform and her example of late has been lacking considerably. This would be my greatest concern, but it is good to see hard evidence that Darby is no longer focussing on putting all her eggs in one basket!
