Just had to respond to this and also let other people read some facts and not speculation. Should let you know I completed work for Polymet as a geological engineer on their Dunka Road project. I would point out FORGET VOISEY BAY Inco's having difficulty putting theirs into production with all the crap going on. Polymet is about Dunka Road, Minnesota which is one of the largest deposits in the world containing a huge resource valued at U.S. $20 to U.S. $25 per ton, at todays metal prices, we can mine and mill for U.S. $5-$7. Why is it still there, simple, metallurgy. Previous owners walked because it was too expensive to setup a treatment plant for the concentrate. Well, it turns out by using naturally occurring bacteria >95% of the metals can be recovered from the CONCENTRATE. In addition Hydrometallurgical techniques have also improved(different methods). Bottom line is not whether the deposit is there or not but which of several metallurgical processes will be used in the process. Check out the value of ore being processes by mines that are operating profitably at current metal prices and you'll find that these values start at U.S. $12 / ton. Dunka Road is a major deposit, and it will only be a matter of time before it goes into production. That is why Dr. Gentry and others have joined Polymet. Side note recent drill assays from 6 inch diameter holes (2 announced to date) drilled nect to previous diamond drill holes for the metallurgical sample gave almost identical results to the diamond drill holes which is a good sign.
