OT***** abortion

It doesn't matter how vocal either side is. If abortion becomes socially unacceptable, the number of abortions will drop. Laws don't matter, yelling doesn't matter, definitions of when life start don't matter - none of that matters. When abortions were illegal, they still happened. When alcohol was illegal, people still drank. Drugs are illegal, but use is rampant. Smoking is legal, but the smoking rate is decreasing. Why? Because it has become socially unacceptable to smoke in public.

Make all the reasoned arguments you want - they change nothing. As long as abortion is considered a legitimate option to continuing a pregnancy, the numbers will stay the same. Your version of the truth is so offensive to so many people that you cause them to fight back even harder, and the fear of a theocracy will lead people away from your viewpoint out of concern that their way of life or their vice will be next on your hit list. You need to be less strident and more compassionate if you are trying to change public opinion.
