** U.S. CHAIN STORE SALES rose 1.2% in the week ended September 5
versus the prior week, according to the seasonally adjusted
BTM/Schroders weekly chain store sales index. For the full text

** WHOLESALE INVENTORIES fell 0.2% in July to a seasonally
adjusted $276.9 billion after a 0.1% drop in June, the Commerce
Department said. They were the first back-to-back monthly declines
