To All: BICO Press Release 12/19 about BIO*SOK
Boating Magazine to Use Biocontrol Product
PITTSBURGH, Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Biocontrol Technology Inc announced today that its new BIO-SOK(R) bilge maintenance system, which is manufactured and marketed by subsidiary Petrol Rem, Inc., has been chosen by BOATING, the largest pleasureboating magazine in the world, to help protect the waterways where it tests boats.
Calling the BIO-SOK "one impressive new product," Mr. Lenny Rudow, Assistant Technical Editor of BOATING, notified the Company that "because BOATING has a sincere concern for America's waterways, a BIO-SOK bilge maintenance system, which impressed us in our own review of the product, will now be placed in the bilge of every boat tested by our magazine. By using the BIO-SOK, we can help keep marina waters free of bilge oil or fuel and the boat will be returned to the manufacturer with a clean bilge."
BOATING annually reviews 120 boats which it tests for speeds, sound levels, running angles, and fuel-flows.
"To have an influential publication such as BOATING test our product and be so impressed that they themselves will now use it is very exciting," said John P. Opsasnick, vice president of environmental services for Petrol Rem. "And all the recognition recently gained by BIO-SOK is exciting, too," continued Opsasnick. "Just this fall, it won the NMMA-IMTEC Innovation Award for Trailers and Accessories and was chosen by NASA to be featured as spinoff technology in their national trade shows. Interest in the new product is quite high."
Unique BIO-SOK bilge maintenance system, which is developed from NASA technology, absorbs on contact and biodegrades boat bilge oil/fuel leakage, then biodegrades itself. The ingredients are completely natural, and the outer fabric that is left can simply be discarded in the regular trash. To use the SOK, it is secured then dropped into the bilge water.
BIO-SOK, which is 100% guaranteed, is available from marina shops, marine supply stores, and from the Company directly (1-800-246-2275). It retails for $29.95. Depending upon the type and amount of contaminant, the SOK will last an entire boating season and require no effort or additional expense from the boat owner to keep the bilge clean and the surrounding environment free from oil and fuel which might otherwise leak from the boat. Such leakage, cited as a major cause of marina water pollution, is now being more closely monitored and heavily fined by environmental regulation enforcement agencies.
