NT is gaining market share vs. both UNIX Tony, I work on a daily basis with both Intel/NT and Sparc/Solaris. We use NT for mail, communications and documents. All of our hardware development is done on Sparc/Solaris. NT is a grossly inadequate operating system for any application which requires reliability, security, tool flow, or a host of other engineering requirements. For Intel to penetrate the workstation market in the engineering/financial sectors, they will have to do it on a UNIX platform. So far, Intel/Solaris and Intel/Linux platforms have seen limited success in the marketplace. It was interesting to note at this years Design Automation Conference (DAC), Compaq provided about 100 Intel systems running Solaris for web browsing. There were no NT systems. Scumbria
