Hi BearcatBob,

The 7-25 Devonian Crossfield reserves should easily exceed those of the Esso 2-21 Mississippian Turner Valley well. (JMHO, no "hype" intended.)

Map 5 (in Bearcat's May 29, 1998 newsletter to shareholders) can be accessed at the following URL:

bearcat.ab.ca

The above referenced map shows the Bearcat interpretation of the areal extent of the target structure. The following excerpt from that same newsletter is Bearcat's discussion of "the play":

7. Map No. 5

Represents the Company's interpretation of the possible configuration of the Turner Valley Regional Devonian Crossfield zone in the Turner Valley North prospect. This reservoir is the same gas zone encountered in the Stampede Bcat et al TV 4-13 discovery well (TV #1) in the Turner Valley South gas pool (Map No. 4). It is considered that the deepening of the suspended Stampede Bcat et al TV 7-25-20-3 W5M well has a good probability for encountering 155 feet of net gas pay.

The 7-25 well is only 1-1/4 miles northeast of the suspended Stf Bcat et al TV 6-23 well and the structural top of the Regional Turner Valley formation in the 7-25 well indicates that the underlying Crossfield reservoir will be encountered here, approximately 300 feet higher structurally to where located in the 6-23 well Crossfield reservoir.

Should the deepening of the 7-25 well confirm a commercial Crossfield zone, then the probability of a major Crossfield gas pool is indicated to be likely as the structure of the Regional Turner Valley zone in the Imp Berkley Turner Valley 2-21 discovery well reflects a correspondingly high structure at the top of the underlying Devonian Crossfield zone at that location. The Crossfield reservoir is interpreted to be approximately 200 feet higher at the 2-21 discovery well location than where expected in the 7-25 deepening well. As the 2-21 well is only 5 miles northwest of the well, a significant Crossfield gas reservoir should also be intersected at this location. This is considered very probable, as this reservoir exhibits very consistent porous/permeability characteristics in all wells drilled into it in the Turner Valley area to date.

Gas wells completed in the Crossfield reservoir should contain at least 50 BCF of recoverable gas reserves per well spacing unit (640 acres) and will probably be capable of at least 15 mmcf gas/day production.

Rumblings on the street suggest that Bearcat was "quite conservative" in the above interpretation. I didn't think that would ever happen, but that's the "rumor" for what it is or isn't worth!!

In a press release today BEA projected that production testing would be underway by the end of next week. IMHO, that "timing" is too aggressive given what still needs to be accomplished. [Logging is not completed yet; Long string casing has to be run; the drilling rig has to rig/move out; the service rig has to move/rig in; the well may(??) require perforating; a tubing string and production packer will need to be run; at a minimum, an acid wash of the zone will be required (perhaps even a large acid stimulation); a flare permit will have to be acquired from AEUB; testing and safety equipment will need to be moved in and set up; and of course, shit happens!!] I doubt that the actual FLOW test can be underway before Sept 23, but JMHO. If "the street" is right (~50MMCF/d) then the Esso 2-21 flare (seen at the following URL) will look like a pilot light in comparison!!

A very pleasant evening to you.

Later,
