The older 5.0 GT's are quicker & faster. I've squeaked by a few...but was really spanked by a Hot one about 2+ months ago. I spanked him off the line(very surprised)...but by ~90 had pulled along side....at 120 he was walking away. Found out he had cobra 5.0L crate motor with the rearend gears from a four banger. He wasn't quick but, very fast from say 80 - up. Talked to the dude & he said he beats LT1's and Cobra's with it, again mainly uptop. He was very impressed with the VW....even more so when he couldn't believe I didn't have nitrous or turbo or something... here is a good link... goracing.com
