Jon, why should you come to the party?
I don't know why you're even here on this thread!
If I did know, it'd be easy for me to extend you an invitation to the party. But look at your track record of behavior here. The last thing I want is for you come to my party only to proclaim it's lousy and begin questioning everybody's intention to have fun.
You see, I only know you as a doubter--and my parties are always designed for optimists! It's one thing to meet someone via these threads, and develop a meaningful relationship and actually feel like you've come to know them. But your very motivation for being here has been and remains questionable. So where's the comfort level for me to invite you to the party?
Perhaps were you to level with us regarding your true reasons for polluting SI Zulu with a daily dose of a dozen or more negative postings, I'd consider an invitation. Many folks who hold opposite views from mine frequently attend my parties. In fact, they contribute to a highly dynamic kitchen scene. But the why of their presence is well-known and they optimistically join the party.
So it's not simply a case of your opposition viewpoint that would inhibit your attendance. Rather, it's precisely the mystery as to why you so strongly work to ruin our Zulu investments. Frankly, this makes me uncomfortable about inviting you.
Zulutekie, on the other hand, has been warm and open and very loyal to a cause which we commonly share. But it's not that we share a mutual interest, never mind the exact same birth day. It's the fact that I've come to trust her. She's presented herself as genuine.
Until I know your motivation for being here for me to even know you, I'm gonna have some trouble inviting you to anybody's party, never mind my own! |
