Peter, Yes, I've looked at Axokine. In fact, an abstract was presented at ICO on its effects in a mouse model of obesity. the results were very promising. However, remember that leptin results in mice were also promising. So, as one scientist said, if your a mouse and your obese, we've got good news for you. However, I am very skeptical and would like to see some results in humans before I got too excited.
Obesity is a complex disorder, or probably more accurately, disorders, that involves intricate physiological mechanism of energy balance regulation as well as psychological processes and socio/cultural influences. Everyone is looking for a "magic bullet", a single pill that will cure this complex disorder. I'm of the opinion that obesity is multidimensional and there will eventually have to be a variety of different treatments, each of which is appropriate for certain forms of obesity and not others, and that these treatments will involve multiple dimensions, including multiple drugs, lifestyle modifications, and exercise.
So, Axokine may become a part of this. So might leptin for that matter. But, I wouldn't bet the ranch on it.
