Bede, your assumptions are partially correct. First, I like CyberTrader, a lot! Second, I have never used M.B. Trading. I am, therefore, biased in my opinion and remarks in favor of CyberTrader, as you probably have noticed.

I was with A.B. Watley for a period and used RealTick there, which I believe is the same (or similar) software that MBT uses. I did not like the version of Realtic that I had then, although I imagine MBT has a more updated, better version now. By the way, I truly hated A.B. Watley and would say it's as bad as, if not worse, than Datek, if such is even possible.

Like you, I first used CyberTrader when I was with Block Trading last year using version 1.3. I currently trade remotely using version 1.6 and find it extremely stable and reliable. Obviously. That is why I continue to use and recommend it. There are, of course, occasional delays due to heavy internet traffic and disruptions in data feed. However, these appear to be getting less and less. I can't remember the last time I had a problem that prevented me from trading, although I can remember some days when the market was not "kind" to me. Recently.

Unlike Block Trading Inc., CyberCorp created and develops the software and continually improves, upgrades, and supports it. I like that aspect. They recently doubled the amount of data servers to increase performance for clients, and additional servers are on order. I like that, too.

The software is incredibly slick and sophisticated, and the service from the staff is impeccable. I have been with enough online brokers to know a good one when I see it. If you remember using CT while you were with Block, and if you can consider the upgrades that have been made since then, you can probably appreciate how good the software truly is now. You should look at it.

The feature comparison you mention was, indeed, prepared by CyberTrader and I find it is very incomplete and lacking in detail, does not adequately describe all the unique and important features and benefits that CyberTrader offers. Isn't it funny, though, that MBT doesn't provide a "comparison" of their own? Maybe there is a reason. Think about it.

Anyway, MBT has absolutely nothing to do with their software. They just license it from someone else. They cannot support or enhance it. They just deal with it. I would use it (if I had to), and I have many good friends who do, in fact, use it. But nearly every day I see too many of them in the various internet chatrooms, often complaining about the software, the data, the system being down, the account detail received from MBT's clearing firm, etc, etc, etc. I don't need all that aggravation.

I have heard, though, that the head people at MBT are very good and knowledgeable and help their clients very much. I believe that is probably true and, therefore, I believe that (presently) MBT is the best available alternative to CyberTrader.

You should call and request a copy of CT's demo disk and look at the section on trader training, review everything presented, and make up your own mind.

To answer your real question, though, I believe the difference is more than a question of taste. I believe CyberTrader is clearly superior. However, MBT has done a good job of marketing. CT has many, many important and exclusive features that I, personally, could not and would not trade without. If you would like more detail on that, let me know. Otherwise, let the war (as you describe it) begin!
