Hello everyone--
I couldn't agree more with Al about the fundamentals of
ADI as a company. They are one of the top companies around in
integrating mechanical devices onto chips... my sense is that
this will provide plenty of new products over the next decade.
A friend who does research in this area (silicon micromachines)
also feels ADI is on the cutting edge here.
Re the drop in Linear Tech... there is talk in the air
that the more commodity-like end of analog chips may see increased
competition soon due to big increases in capacity.... LT's announcement
suggests this is true. I think this area (opamps and such) is
around 40% of ADI's business. Unfortunately, this made me hesitate
to buy ADI in Feb.
Does anyone have a better sense than I do whether this is
the case? If so, we may see a good buying opportunity for ADI
after the slowdown develops, fears are fanned etc...
Yikes, just looked at the current quote.... maybe this is a bit
of a buying opp!
