CSCO might want ASND but not likely to occur for several reasons. Sure, CSCO's only real worry these days is LU and LU+ASND means even bigger problems. It would be worth every penny to buy ASND even if they just want to eliminate them or hobble them a bit. Problems: 1. CSCO would own too much market share and the DOJ would not likely approve. Without ASND, LU would be set back and CSCO really would become the MSFT of networking. 2. ASND does not care for CSCO and it would result in a mass defection of employees. (On the other hand, this might be CSCO's way of destroying ASND). I hope CSCO tries to make a bid causing the price of ASND to rapidly ascend into the stratosphere.
