I think it's a mistake for the GOP to rush this out. What happens when they are accused of selective editing a la Dan Burton's fiasco with the Webb Hubbell tapes? Who's going to answer for confidential, personal information that is mistakenly released? Also, strategically, if Congress hasn't even reached agreement on when the hearings begin, putting the report out now has the effect of being a strategic leak in favor of Clinton. If the hearings end up starting in February, by that time, the whole report will have been sliced and diced and analyzed up the wazoo on TV and in the press for 5 months. Leno and Letterman will have moved along to other jokes from cigars and bjs. It will have no shock value anymore. This headlong rush toward public viewing (by both Starr and the GOP) is playing right into the hands of Clinton.
