The story I heard from a Sask Wheat Pool delegate was that the reason SWP withdrew from the talks was a "personality issue". Apparently one CEO (ours probably, but not necessarily) couldn't stand the other two. Naturally, there were concerns about who would have the stroke when all was said and done and as a result, SWP withdrew and went public. They were convinced that with the muscle of SWP, the others wouldn't be able to compete.
It's sad that it transpired in that way because now we're going to have competition in ALL THREE prairie provinces and beyond.
While that doesn't diminish SWP's value as a holding, it certainly presents us all with some more challenges.
