Yes, but trading volume always shrinks in a bear market, as buyers eventually stop buying the dips. Doesn't anybody remember 1974 when H. Ross Perot took a bath as his duPont Walston (the second largest wire house in the country after Mother Merrill) went belly up despite a banner year in commodities? As I remember, the NYSE was doing 70 million shares on a good day that year. That was the year that Nixon resigned!
