Jim, I had a hard time finding information of ESS store at their web site... and when I did it basically just repitched the concept of data broadcasting, with a "coming soon" banner across the top. Anyone can create web pages, but this is one technology that no one is offering yet. If it could be done efficiently, I think DIRECTV would already be doing it. After all, they promised data services in 1996 with their much ballyhooed partnership with Microsoft, and I even heard of some supposed alpha level demonstrations, but nobody has much of anything to show for it.
Call me a "Doubting Thomas" about this, but we've heard it all before. At least for now, it appears to be "vaporware," and the page exists to reassure those that want to get a dish but are afraid they'll be missing out on cable-based data services...
Regards,
NOEL
p.s. Of course, if Charlie starts sending software to my DISH system, I'll be the first to say I was wrong! |
