VRSN puts stake in WAVX concept? VRSN and Gemplus have developed a "smart card" reader. Basically, this is a peripheral that functions the same way as WAVX chip does. It is also plug and play, inserts right into serial port. It does not continuously verify legally bought software (no periodic "pings"), but it completely circumvents the HUGE obstacles of (a) convincing people to have a Big Brother chipisntalled on their ocmputer, (b) retrofitting a chip to the motherboard and (c) convincing all PC manufacturers to add the WAVX chip. newsalert.com Folks, I am convinced that companies like VRSN and DRIV have winning concepts. I think WAVX is doomed, not because of any problems with its concept (it is a great one) but because of failure to execute. It is just too inconvenient. I am removing my SI bookmark.
