* DELL'S TOM MEREDITH NAMED TOP CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (CFO).Arthur Andersen and CFO MAGAZINE announced the ten winners of the first annual CFO Excellence Awards in the September 1998 edition of CFO MAGAZINE. The awards recognize the best in financial leadership, and the winners represent the growing responsibilities leading CFOs and corporations face today, according to a press release.
The magazine gave awards in ten categories.Tom was the only two-category winner, with the top prize in both performance management and risk management. The categories also demonstrate the growing breadth and depth of CFO responsibilities and the increased complexity and importance of the finance function. Other winners include Dennis Dammerman, General Electric; Alan Graf, Jr., Federal Express; Thomas Wilson, Allstate Insurance; Lawrence Kellner, Continental Airlines; Scott Sullivan, WorldCom; Robert Blakely, Tenneco; Robert Ripp, AMP; and Basil Anderson, Campbell Soup.
