Ramsey,

Wall Street Journal has done an article about Iridium. To me it makes pretty bleak reading for them. For example:

Raymond Leopold, Iridium's chief technical officer, goes further. "If you believe in God," he says, "Iridium is God manifesting himself through us."

Well, they have God on their side!! Great. I'll stick with top engineers. The article also seems to say that the Boss of Motorola has made this a personal issue. Always a risky thing. But towards the end of the article they seem to be more interested in the spin off ideas than in the actual success of Iridium. Also the boss of Iridium is a power lifter. Now I'm sure power lifters are smart enough if they are, but I prefer wimpy geeks like Bill Gates.

As well as this, there seems to be real concern that they will actually be able to raise the necessary funds. Their call prices are high and their system complex.

Well, it is good for Globalstar as Iridium is the main competition for the next 5 years and they seem to be in trouble. But their first launching is scheduled for January, so at least they are well under way.
