Ken, I know what the street's perception of AMAT is. I say it is getting worse. I disagree that the last earnijngs report indicated room for optimism (if that is not your point, sorry). Look at a summary of their latest quarterly report. Sounds like management is sending out a big warning:

Note that 40% of new orders are from Asian countries. Some may say the glass if half full, I say it is half empty. It tells me AMAT depends heavily on Asian purchases. With Asian capital markets collapsing and Japan pulling money out of Asia, where is the capital to make huge purchases? I am looking for more cancellations. AMAT states in their risks seciton that orders could be cancelled in the future because recently past orders were cancelled. Do you see this situation geting better in 3 months? 6 months? Wealth has disappeared in Asia.
