that was evil (like the Sanyo-IBM deal which was major bigtime evil)... anyway we are still a player...

from a recent publication about Sun's move to new 64 bit processors:
a quote from Anant Agrawal, Sun's VP of engineering, talking about
how Sun will be concentrating on making 64 bit processors from now
on and leaning on partnerships to make the 32 bit MPUs - "We will
rely on partnerships in the CoreWare program."

Hmmm....

I thought TI made most of Sun's MPUs (?) so unless Sun/TI has their own version of CoreWare (highly unlikely - I think CoreWare is trademarked) this is likely a reference to LSI's CoreWare
program.

Like the SonyPlayStation thing I think the reduction in revenue from
Sony (and Sun) might hopefully just be product transitions as opposed to product losses <g>. Of course for this to be true, this means Sony will be releasing PlayStation II this XMas (not likely)... The thing about the PlayStation reduction in revenue is that it shrunk in half for about I would guess the same number of chips (or more) - thus the chip is now
half price or worse - ouch! - if true is this now a loss leader for
LSI <g> - maybe kowtowing to the major Zen of consumer electronics so
that the major Zen will bestow upon the Muddling Milipitas Mandarin a smidgeon of the PlayStation II business...)

on the IP thing:
electronicnews.com
(confusing article - like the whole business itself)

and long term good news - lots of semi buybacks (and zippo selling
for the most part - if anyone tracks insider selling for the
semis they know how rare this kind of situation is...)
electronicnews.com

Shane (sell everything... I want to buy a ranch... with horseees... <g>)

P.S. Descriptions of Lurid Presidential Porn with your bacon and eggs tomorrow morn... is this a great country or what? <g>
