Daniel,

DirecPC has a new pricing structure. I don't know about the old data download prices. There are now three packages, with a base cost, depending on the hours used, with an extra $.99 for each additional hour. I figure I'll need the satellite speed about 150+ hours per month and should pay less than the $85 per month my ISDN line would cost. I know this is more expensive than cable modems and about the same as ADSL; however, some of us poor slobs have no other choice as we are at the mercy of the cable and phone monopolies!

As far as weather, they said heavy snow gives bad reception but rain should not, unless it is a monsoon. But, then again, I was promised by US West my ISDN line would be installed in three weeks, so I understand your hesitation and I too am waiting for some rain to really see if this thing flies. I'll keep you posted.

Brent

P.S. Hughes did promise satisfaction, as long as I had a clear sight of the satellite (no building, hills, trees, etc. blocking).
