Target Stores, the largest division of Dayton Hudson Corporation (NYSE: DH - news), is the third largest discount retailer
in the country and is opening nearly 70 new stores in 1999. Target's goal is to deliver great value to its guests by providing
high-quality merchandise at low everyday prices, in stores designed for convenience and distraction-free shopping. Target
has established a tradition of referring to customers as guests because of its emphasis on excellent service.

''Target is expanding into areas near existing store markets, but where consumers are not yet being conveniently served by a
Target store,'' said Ken Woodrow, Target president.

Target serves guests from a broad spectrum in its communities but its most typical guests are active families. The stores have
a wide variety of merchandise -- from the basics of household necessities to the hottest trend items.

In keeping with a long-standing tradition, Target will announce plans for several community involvement programs in the
areas where the new stores open. The stores will also establish a Good Neighbor Volunteer Program, Target's grass-roots
volunteerism program that encourages and supports employee volunteer projects that meet a specific need in the community.

Minneapolis-based Target Stores is a quality discount retailer. On March 7, 1999, Target will operate 861 stores in 41
states coast to coast. It is the largest division of Dayton Hudson Corporation, one of the nation's leading retailers.

Target Stores, together with its parent company, Dayton Hudson Corporation, will give more than $1 million a week to
communities in which they do business in 1998. With a focus on strengthening and enriching family life, Target alone will
give more than $40 million back to communities nationwide this year through grants, special programs and team member
donations. Since it was founded in 1962, Target has contributed 5 percent of its pretax profits to the communities in which it
does business.
