I honestly think all bets are off in the next 12 years. Technology will advance so quickly that companies that move nimbly will be able to make many people rich, even if we suffer another depression. I believe Dell is one of those companies.

There's a lot to learn from history, but the portal we're about to pass through will completely change life as we know it. We're already making great strides toward that portal; Zyvex ( zyvex.com ) is convinced that they'll develop the first nanomachine assembler within the next 10 years.

So as for the October effect, while it might be seen in the broader market, I am not worried about either the Dell stock I'm holding or the November calls that I'm going to roll up to, as they expire three days after earnings are announced.

Life is very good these days. Hopefully those of you reading this who haven't already invested will do your DD and make up your mind, because in the past three earnings periods I've been blown away by their performance -- and I only wish that I had decided they weren't overpriced sooner.

Cheers,
KenB
