I think you have to time it perfectly to win.

When I first saw this idea posted on SI I thought
that play might make sense, but then I realized
that it doesn't - after thinking it through.

Pick a stock and try a paper trade. I think you
will find it is more difficult to buy a stock cheap
that you think. Now if your intent is really to
sell puts that expire worthless, that's a different
goal.
