It might please many of you to know I just completed a half-hour coffee chat with Pattison Hayton, a real human being, in a downtown Boston hotel breakfast room. At the very beginning of this meeting, he handed me a copy of today's press release relative to ZuluMedia's audit. What a welcome surprise that was!
For now, I'm only going to highlight points of the meeting. Then I'm going rollerblading throughout the city with my girlfriend, because she is leaving for the weekend and I want to spend this afternoon with her. Sorry folks, I like you and all, but there are some things I've just got to do.
So after this brief description, you can pose your questions, which answers--if I know them--I'll provide tomorrow. I can't do it tonight, because, well, I've got plans!
So here 'tis. In the course of planning the visit to LA I received a phone call from Pattison Hayton. He got my telephone number via my email communications with Mark Wachs. He said he'd be in Boston today and asked if I'd like to meet him for a coffee. So I donned a sport jacket and rollerbladed over to meet him. My blades were checked at the door of the hotel, a fancy one.
He's about six-foot three, athletically built, has a not quite fully gray hairstyle, well-cut. His eyes are good ones and they really looked at you brightly. Supporting his eyes was a nice, friendly smile. His voice was soft, Australian-accented and very deliberate. Oh yeah, he was wearing a blue suit, a good one.
Who'd he look like? Well, he looked like a real live buisnessman. He appeared as if he could easily run for public office and get elected. On the beauty scale, I'd venture to predict that most women would swoon over him. But, sorry girls, he's got a girlfriend. Maybe he's a cross between Paul Newman and Robert Redford? He said he used to rollerskate and that he, too, was a musician but at a younger age.
He gave every appearance of being a man whose confident about what he is doing. In his early business years he used to own a cargo shipping business and transported fruits and vegetables into the Middle East. This was before he ventured into the alternative energy business, accounts of which have been mentioned in Wired.
Regarding his confidence, he informed me that it made no sense to sue Wired. He pointed out that Andy Batkin, a former SIMer honcho, and the folks at Wired had close relationships. This explains why Wired's first piece was so glowing about Zulu-tek (because Batkin had not yet left Zulu-tek). Pat, (I call him Pat now--he's not a bad guy!), again exuding confidence, said that his own actions will speak louder than any words against Wired, that suing Wired is a waste of time.
Speaking of lawsuit actions, however, he did inform me that he has filed a lawsuit relative to the problems concerning the Nevada alternative energy business. It was filed only yesterday. This is significant because it shows there really is another side to the story of what Wired only one-sidedly reported.
Briefly, since I've got to go, here are some other points:
1) The Mincheff Chicago keynote speech is a definite!
2) More news is coming relative to the CEO search. He said "you wouldn't believe some of the people we've been talking to." He said an announcement is expected soon. He did point out that one person who is under consideration has the capacity to deliver millions of dollars in sales, due to his connections. Will this happen? We'll have to wait and see.
3) He noted that the details with eCommerce Corp should be worked out in about 30 days and that this is expected to invigorate the company.
4) He pointed out that other acquisitions are under consideration that are related to home shopping kinds of business.
5) He stressed that Doubleclick and 24/7 do not offer the kinds of services that ZuluGroup.com will offer. This can be interpreted that he expects, down the road, to have a competitive advantage over them.
6) He said that Tom Burgess has moved on to work on another new invention. He described Tom as an "extremely bright guy" who was used to working in a small workplace environment and that Zulu had become more than that.
7) He said he was visting Newport for a few days in order to do some boating.
Is he concerned about the Zulu/ESVS stock prices? During our converstion he placed a phone call to check on what was happening. He said he expects the company will be trading very nicely by the new year. I think he mentioned the possibility of $20. He also said that most folks were wrong to expect to make overnight killings while Zulu was functioning in the OTC market.
He also had a few fanciful comments regarding some of the people who post on the threads. But I'm not going to get personal about that! (LOL) You know who you are!
That's all I can think of at this time. I won't even be able to immediately read your responses and reactions, 'cause: I'm blading away!
Hope we all have a great day. It's certainly so far been one of my more interesting ones.
Party on! PartyTime PS: I'll be visting LA with other investors as soon as we can set a time where everybody will be around. I suspect this will happen after the new CEO is appointed, but this is just a guess. |
